A Colourful Storm, one of the most forward-thinking labels at present, takes over Horoom on 21st August. Founded in Melbourne in 2016, the platform, which includes sub-labels Fleetway Tapes and Intimations, champions emerging artists, running the gamut from contemplative ambience, folksong, indie-pop melancholia, to contemporary electronics and beyond. The no-ordinary ethos of A Colourful Storm will be showcased by its founder, a passionate record-digger and technical wizard, Matthew Xue, under the Moopie alias. Developing his bold, eclectic sound, he draws on the far corners of electronic music history, connecting disparate strands, weaving together different eras, and crossing genre boundaries, juxtaposing minimal techno, lo-fi pop, hallucinogenic IDM, indie-rock, and abstract D&B, both as a label head and a masterful selector. Moopie stands out as a creative force, sharing musical discovery at his core. He'll be joined by Ninasupsa, Kvanchi, and Zzzbam, who will perform live.
